“Those who love wisdom investigate many things.” Heraclitus
It is my desire for wisdom that drives my professional evolution, shapes my creative expressions and inspires my work. My artistic instinct is to synergize multiple materials such as glass, ceramics, metal, water, sound, light, and anything I can get my hands on into dynamic and visionary installations. Solid glass sculpting, glass instruments, glass painting vessels, glass blowing on stilts and painting with hot glass are just a few of the ways I have been expressing my artistic desires. I am passionate about working outside of the box with a wide range of skills to push the ability of material, form, experimentation and the elements.
I am truly in love with glass so my natural instinct when working with it is to sculpt, innovate and push its ability to take any form. Pushing the limit of scale, concept, color, texture, teamwork and form are what I am eager to experience.
My education in glass began at Santa Monica College in 2002; a year later I started as an apprentice at Vicolo Glass in 2003, working my way up to assistant gaffer within one year. In 2004 I received a scholarship to Pilchuck to study with Davide Salvadore from SMC. My BFA in Glass Art was completed in the fall of 2010 from the California State University of Fullerton, under the direction of Joe Cariati and John Leighton. Since my BFA completion I have filled my year with a variety of art shows, private commissions, assistant teaching and providing private training. I recently just completed a one-month international apprenticeship in Murano, Italy with Maestros Silvano Signoretto & Afro Celotto in the summer of 2011. I was invited into these studios with open arms and acquired great knowledge and skill working with these classically trained artists.
My expressions as an artist have always been about thinking out side the box and pushing the envelope. This began long ago with my involvement in the West Coast art community as a multi-disciplinary visual and performance artist specializing in mixed media sculpture, fusion dance, theatre and circus. I am always excited to expand on my artistic education, experience and skill.
